Is Meowney free?

Yes. Meowney is fully free to download and use. This means you get access to almost all features and unlimited categories and budgets for free. We are monetizing our app through advertising, and we also offering a subscription service called Meowney Gold © which gives you access to additional premium features and remove ads in the app.

Filter my transactions
  • Go to the Transactions tab
  • Tap on the @filter button at the top left of the screen
  • Select the period you would like to filter, and the categories you want to be displayed
  • Once you’re done, tap on Filter to see the results

You can check which filter you are currently using by checking at the top of the @Transactions tab. The default filter shows only the current month’s transactions.

How safe is Meowney?

We do not collect and store any personal information. All the data your enter in Meowney app is exclusively stored locally on your device, unless you choose to share it or back it up to a third party app using the Back Up & Restore feature for instance.
To add an extra level of security to your financial information, you can turn on Passcode & Touch ID feature.


Display

Set my initial balance
  • Go to the Home tab
  • Tap on Settings
  • Navigate to the Basic Settings section
  • Tap on Initial Balance and enter the initial balance that fits your needs.
  • Once you’re done, tap on Apply to saves the changes.
Set a currency
  • Go to the Home tab
  • Tap on Settings
  • Navigate to the Basic Settings section
  • Tap on Currency and select the currency you would like to use as the app currency
Change the calendar first weekday
  • Go to the Home tab
  • Tap on Settings
  • Navigate to the Basic Settings section
  • Tap on First Weekday and select the weekday you would like to use as the first calendar weekday
Hide/Show decimals
  • Go to the Home tab
  • Tap on Settings
  • Navigate to the Basic Settings section
  • Tap on Show Decimals to hide or show decimals
Select theme color

Please note that in order to set the theme color, you will need to have an active Meowney Gold subscription.
The active color theme is highlighted with a checkmark. To change the theme color, simply follow the steps below:

  • Go to the Home tab
  • Tap on Theme
  • Simply select the color that you like the most, and tap on Apply to save the changes
Turn on night mode
  • Go to the Home tab
  • Tap on Night Mode
  • Navigate to the Basic Settings section
  • From there, you can easily switch between Night and Day modes
Turn off ads

In order to use Meowney without ads, you will need to have an active Meowney Gold premium subscription.
Ads get automatically turned off when your subscription is active.

Remove all my data

In case you would like to remove all your Meowney data stored on your device, you can simply follow the steps below:

  • Go to the Home tab
  • Tap on Settings
  • Navigate to the Data section
  • Tap on Delete All Data
  • Read carefully the warning before proceeding

Alternatively, because we don’t store or collect user information on any servers, removing the app from your phone will also remove all your data from the device.

Please be aware that by doing so all your data will be removed from the app. This means that your transactions (expense and income), your custom categories and your budgets will be removed. Categories and settings will be reset as they were when you opened the app for the first time.
Please also note that you cannot undo this action unless you previously backed up your data using Backup & Restore.


Transactions

Add a transaction
  • Go to the Transactions tab
  • Tap on the + sign at the top right of the screen to open the New Transaction screen
  • Enter the transaction details
  • Tap on the @checkmark sign at the top right of the screen to save the transaction
Add a receipt
  • Go to the Transactions tab
  • Tap on the + sign at the top right of the screen to open the New Transaction screen.
  • Enter the transaction details
  • Tap on the @camera sign at the bottom
  • Select between Camera and Library depending on where you want to get your receipt photo from.
  • If the photo receipt is properly added, it should be displayed at the bottom left of the screen
  • Once you’re done, tap on the @checkmark sign at the top right of the screen to save the transaction

Receipt will be visible in the Transaction Detail screen, but also from the Receipts screen by tapping on Receipts in the Home tab.

Add a note
  • Go to the Transactions tab
  • Tap on the + sign at the top right of the screen to open the New Transaction screen.
  • Enter the transaction details
  • Tap on the @note sign at the bottom left of the screen, and type your note
  • Once you’re done, tap on the @checkmark sign at the top right of the screen to save the transaction

Note will be visible in the Transaction Detail screen.

Setup a repeating transaction
  • Go to the Transactions tab
  • Tap on the + sign at the top right of the screen to open the New Transaction screen.
  • Enter the transaction details
  • Tap on the Repeat button and select the repeating mode that fits your needs
  • Once you’re done, tap on the @checkmark sign at the top right of the screen to save the transaction

You can check whether a transaction is a recurring transaction or not by going to the Transaction Detail screen.

Edit a transaction
  • Tap on the transaction you would like to edit by going to the @Transactions tab or from anywhere else
  • This will open the Transaction Detail screen
  • Tap on the @edit icon at the top right of the screen to open the Edit Transaction screen
  • Simply edit whatever information you would like to be changed
  • Once you’re done, tap on the @checkmark sign at the top right of the screen to save the transaction
Remove a transaction
  • Tap on the transaction you would like to edit by going to the @Transactions tab or from anywhere else
  • This will open the Transaction Detail screen
  • Tap on the @remove icon at the top right of the screen to remove the transaction

Please note that you cannot recover a removed transaction.

  • Go to the Reports tab
  • Tap on the @filter button at the top left of the screen

  • Once you’re done, tap on Filter to see the results

Budgets

Add a budget
  • Go to the Budgets @ tab
  • Tap on the + sign at the top right of the screen to open the New Budget screen
  • Enter the budget details
  • Tap on the @checkmark sign at the top right of the screen to save the budget
Edit a budget
  • Tap on the budget you would like to edit by going to the @Budgets tab
  • This will open the Budget Detail screen
  • Tap on the @edit icon at the top right of the screen to open the Edit Budget screen
  • Simply edit whatever information you would like to be changed
  • Once you’re done, tap on the @checkmark sign at the top right of the screen to save the changes
Remove a budget
  • Tap on the budget you would like to remove by going to the @Budgets tab
  • This will open the Budget Detail screen
  • Tap on the @remove icon at the top right of the screen to remove the budget

Please note that you cannot recover a removed budget.


Categories

Add a category
  • Go to the Home tab
  • Tap on Categories
  • Navigate to the Expense or Income section depending on what kind of category you would like to create
  • Tap on the New Category button to open the New Category screen
  • Pick a name for your category, and select its color and icon
  • Once you’re done, tap on the @checkmark sign at the top right of the screen to create the category
Edit a category
  • Go to the Home tab
  • Tap on Categories
  • Select the category you would like to edit
  • Simply edit whatever information you would like to be changed
  • Once you’re done, tap on the @checkmark sign at the top right of the screen to saves the changes
Remove a category
  • Go to the Home tab
  • Tap on Categories
  • Select the category you would like to remove
  • This will open the Category Detail screen
  • Tap on the @remove icon at the top right of the screen to remove the category
  • Read carefully the warning before proceeding

Please be aware that by doing so, all the transactions and budgets associated to this category will also get removed. Please also note that this action cannot be undone unless you previously backed it up using the Backup & Restore feature.

Reset default categories

In case you would like to reset default expense & income categories, you can do so at anytime by following the steps below:

  • Go to the Home tab
  • Tap on Settings
  • Navigate to the Data section
  • Tap on Reset Default Categories
  • Read carefully the warning before proceeding

Please note that when resetting default categories, all your custom categories will be removed.


Security

How safe is Meowney?

We do not collect and store any personal information. All the data your enter in Meowney app is exclusively stored locally on your device, unless you choose to back it up using the Cloud Auto-Sync's premium feature, in which case your information is kept encrypted, private and safe on iCloud servers.
To add an extra level of security to your financial information, you can turn on Passcode & Touch ID feature.

Set up Passcode & Touch ID

In order to use passcode authentication, simply follow the steps below:

  • Go to the Home tab
  • Tap on @Passcode
  • Simply tap on Passcode to turn on or off passcode authentication
By default, Touch ID option is enabled. We recommend you to keep it enabled, because it allows you to access the app even in case you forgot your passcode.
If you disable the Touch ID option while using passcode authentication and forget your passcode, please be aware that you won’t be able to access the app anymore and will loose all your data.

What is Meowney Gold © ?

While Meowney is free to download and use, you can get access to additional premium features and remove ads at anytime by upgrading to Meowney Gold ©.

Meowney Gold © gives you access to the following features:

  • Ad Free
  • Budget Forecast
  • CSV Data Export
  • Cloud Auto-Sync
  • Theme customization
The following Meowney Gold © subscriptions are available:

How to use Budget Forecast feature?

In order to use Budget Forecast feature, you need to have an active Meowney Gold © premium subscription.
Budget Forecast allows you to get a visual prevision on how your expenses will look at the end of your budget.
When your subscription is active, it will be displayed in the Budget Detail screen.

Please note that you need at least one transaction associated to this budget in order to see the Budget Forecast graph.
